Strange... Didn't think it needed a Facebook account. I see it does tho.

It's not my picture. Someone else's. The story goes, they bought some songs on Microsoft's music shop. And now that the songs are gone from the music shop, they can't play the songs.

I'm terrified of this kind of situation becoming the norm.

It's why I try and avoid anything that relies upon phone-home authentication of some sort to function.

Yeah, the rental model annoys the hell out of me — particularly when it's falsely presented as something else entirely. If you're only providing a temporary licence to access content, then I don't think it should be legal to refer to "buying", "shop", "purchase", etc. in connection to your service.

I can only hope that enough people wise up to what's happening and start demanding true ownership.
