Red Sea Foods were selling some fantastically fresh looking okra. So I had to buy some. Sautéed it with mustard seeds, some tomato puree and plenty of salt. Lovely.

My airsoft rifle arrived today. It looks the part, but there's one critical flaw. The battery doesn't fit. Waaaa! I think I was a little over ambitious there. Now I have to either admit to having wasted £40 on metal gears, or try and find a 9.6V battery that does fit. Grr.

I had a dream last night where my cat had learned to talk. Not in a Salem Saberhagen kind of way, but as you'd imagine a cat attempting to speak would sound. She didn't seem to have much in the way of practical wisdom to impart tho.

The whole thing freaked me out. Especially when, upon waking, I was still in that half dreaming stage where one is willing to believe anything. A tad phased, I fired up Google and set about looking for cases of cats having been taught to vocalize English phrases. The reality isn't nearly as impressive as that conjured up by my mind.

Also today, I spent £200 on a pair of prescription sunglasses with ballistic lenses. They should do fine for the airsoft, hillwalking and snowboarding, so hopefully that'll be money well spent.

And I've booked a couple of days off work for seeing Lostprophets in Glasgow with Afroduck (reciprocity for him having gone to see Placebo with me, I guess).

I went airsofting with Afroduck for a second time yesterday, at the same place—an outdoor activities centre near Kilmaurs in Ayrshire. I enjoyed it this time even more than the last, now getting a feel for the way the weapons function and how best to use them in combat. Unlike last time, I actually got a few kills in too.

The highlight of the day had to be storming a rather muddy tench system in their beach landing scenario. It can get really tense and involving, knowing that at any moment someone else with exactly the same intentions as yourself could catch you trying to spot them.

I love the way the airsofters get so involved in their pass time, decking themselves out in full camo, tactical armour and webbing, complete with radios. The snipers look the part in their guile suits, with slung SMGs for close combat. We passed a group of paintballers at one point, one of whom, on eying up the airsofters thought out loud, "I don't think we want to be going up against those guys."

Since I still don't have my own gun, I hired out a Tokyo Marui FAMAS at a cost of £20, but this will be the last time, as I intend on purchasing a Steyr AUG (my rifle of choice from Counterstrike) at the first opportunity.
